Great product with fantastic range
I tried the RING mailbox sensor and did not like it for my purposes. Primarily, it did not work with my Amazon show, so it only gave me notifications on my phone, and I could not customize the sound so it sounded like all the other neighborhood notifications. X-Sense comes with an indoor device (“base station”) that makes a unique ding and has a red light AND you get a notification on your phone as well. You can easily reset the indoor device to its blue light by pressing a button on the device.PROSeasy to set up.works great with no special antennathe mailbox sensor itself is small (inside of the door near the top suggested) and does not interfere with the mail.you do not have to answer the telephone notification (and it asks you to do that on RING which is annoying).the base station comes with the sensor and allows flexibility to add more sensors — I am particularly interested in a driveway sensor and the smoke detector sensors, and they are reasonably priced.CONSnone so far. I would have liked to have it say “you’ve got mail” but none do this!! LOLI am very happy and recommend highly!!

Amazing Mailbox Alarm
I purchased this as a replacement and was blown away with how much superior this is to the old one I had. It does have the base station you need to setup, and I have this farther away from the mailbox than I ever have.The setup was simple, just install the app on your phone. Only took me a few minutes to get setup. The device for the mailbox is pretty flexible, there are different options for how to mount it depending on your mailbox setup. This works with a bunch of different types of mailboxes. Mine is a standard side of the road mailbox where the door flips down. This device is VERY sensitive and I’ve never missed an alert (again my old one wouldn’t always register the door opened).You also have adjustments for the sensor to accommodate non-level ground or other anomalies in your installation. If I was critical about anything, it would be the instructions on mounting the sensor. There is an adjustment knob, which appears to allow you to adjust for uneven ground, but I couldn’t find anything in the instructions. Luckily it wasn’t an issue for me.Now some cool things.. the app gets a push notification from the base station when the mailbox is opened. The base station blinks red, you get an alert on your phone, and in the app you get a big red pop-up indicating the mailbox was opened. You have to press the little button on the back of the base station to turn off the alert. This means keep the base station handy. I really wish there was a way to reset it through the application. To be fair, there is an option in the app as to whether or not to flash red until you acknowledge it by pressing the button.The app is flexible, you can determine if you want an audible alarm, if you want it to sound once or until acknowledged. You can also change the sound it plays. 7 different options and multiple volume levels. Mine has barking dogs activated. As complete as this device is, I was a little annoyed that the sounds are labeled Tone 1, Tone 2, … until Tone 7. You basically have to play each of them to figure out which one to use. You also have the option of what type of notifications. The device was triggered, when silenced, or if there is a low battery.Finally, the base station is the generic X-Sense base station, so it works with their other security products (door open, motion sensor, etc.)Bottom line, this is superior than any other mailbox alert system that I’ve had. The distance and reliability is awesome! I love that I get alerts on my mobile device. If you are in the market, I can’t image how you could go wrong. Awesome device!!

This mailbox alarm is fairly easy to install, if you ignore most of the instructions. The manual shows buttons to press in the wrong locations and LEDs also in the wrong location.The button on the base station is on the side, not the top as the instruction say. The LED on the mailbox sensor is internal and cannot be seen without taking the sensor apart.That being said, it works well. The volume of the alert, as well as the alert can be changed. I keep it fairly low. An advantage of this alert over others is that you can get an alert on the app when the mailbox is opened. This is very useful as you can know whether or not the check the mailbox when you come home.If the instructions were more accurate, this would have received 5 stars.
