very nice thermostat, looks impressive on the wall
Love the functionality and appearance of this thermostat on my wall. I love all of the features, the way it lights up when my hvac is running, how it gives humidity readings, has a soft backlight that illuminates, and all the personalizations you can do with this thermostat, and turn things on and off.The install for me, however, was tricky to say the least only because I have a older home, and had a 4 wire thermostat wire. I could make the 4 wire work, but I lose some functionality of the thermostat. I wired it using 4 wires at first, but I had no manual control of turning the fan on the furnace on and off. This thermostat can also be set to turn the fan on to circulate air in your home, if the the hvac is not required to come on for a temperture set point..Well that function was lost for me because of my 4 wire thermostat wire. I ended up replacing my 4 wire with 5 wire, and running the new wire through the wall and crawlspace. Not an easy task, but I wanted all my thermostat options to work. This is one of the options that sold me on the purchase of this thermostat, but It was not clear how it would work with what I already had in my home until I installed the thermostat. So now everything is fully functional and I am very happy with my purchase.The phone app for this thermostat, is very user friendly, and is a must in the aid of setting up and installing the thermostat. Getting the Sensi to connect to my home wifi was a breeze with the step by step instruction of the phone app. Don’t skip steps in the set up process like I did. It took a minute to figure out that I got ahead of the set up process, and the app will buck you on connecting to the wifi. Not a big deal, you can just start over on the steps to connect the wifi, and it will connect right away with no problems.As far as automation with Alexa and Google home voice operation, I did not opt to do all that. I just use my phone to change settings, or get up and walk over to the thermostat lol.Overall, very nice thermostat with whistles and bells that I had not had before, and so far so good, it is working flawlessly.

Very easy installation and setup, great performance
For the last eight months, I experienced one struggle after another with a different thermostat brand. I really wanted one that was Wi-Fi capable so we could adjust it and monitor it remotely. The other brand consistently refused to stay connected to my home network, which rendered it nearly impossible to monitor the way we wished.I decided to try this Sensi model and it’s been a radically different experience. The mounting and installation was straightforward and should be simple for anyone who can handle some tools and understands the relatively standard wiring schemes. I have an air-to-air heat pump, which includes the C wire required for this thermostat type, so swapping this for another model was not difficult.The unique factor with the Sensi is that the thermostat’s mobile app walks you through the setup. Prior to beginning, the user creates an account with Sensi on the app (Android or iPhone). Once the mounting bracket is installed on the wall, you step through the app as it assists in completing the wiring connections and linking to your system and Wi-Fi network. The electrical and mechanical self-configuration was fast, as the Sensi figured out the aic conditioning system and immediately began operating as expected.The Wi-Fi connection was the key for me. The device found my network and connected immediately. In a matter of minutes, everything was up and running. The app displays the current temperature setting and humidity in the home, along with your home’s location, local outside temperature and the forecast temperature ranges. That screen also provides all the controls needed to adjust the temperature, switch between heat or cool modes, change the fan settings, set schedules and check on our system usage.For me, the best part of the Sensi device is the rock-solid connectivity with my network. I’ve had the unit installed for three days and have experienced perfect connections, with no drops. This was simply not the case with the previous device, which would randomly lose and regain the connection multiple times per day.The one improvement I would like to see is the addition of the outside temperature on the touch screen itself. The display is actually very simple, showing the current inside temperature and humidity, the time and the menu and control selectors on the active screen. If you don’t mind looking at the app for the outside temps, this won’t be a problem for you.One other thing I liked about the Sensi over the previous device relates to the screen going into a dim setting. Even in a “night” mode, the previous device always looked too bright and it was very noticeable in our master bedroom, as the thermostat is mounted right outside in the hall. The Sensi goes into a dim mode and has no disturbing backlight, yet you can see the temperature with a glance and a touch wakes the screen immediately.The Sensi also connected successfully to my Google Home setup, so the thermostat can be voice controlled using Google Assistant.If you have a new home and are installing a new HVAC system, and if this is compatible with your system, your professional installer can handle the installation. However, if you can turn off a circuit breaker, drill a couple of small holes in the wall and correctly remove, mark and replace the wiring from an existing system, you can upgrade to this device yourself with minimal effort.I’ve read and experienced issues with connectivity on other thermostats, including the brand I previously used. This review is not meant to knock those brands, which is why I didn’t mention it. Some devices simply don’t work as expected in all environments. But this Sensi Touch Smart thermostat works as advertised for me and I recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade their HVAC system controls.

Great functional controller that does the basic job expected from a controller. However….YOU CANNOT USE THE WIFI ABILITY UNLESS YOU REGISTER THE PRODUCT, BUT BUT BUT YOU CAN ONLY USE A USA TIMEZONE.!!! How hard is it in this day and age to include the rest of the world???

I already had a non-smart programmable theromostat, which worked fine, but was nearly impossible to read unless you were inches away, with the room light on. I like that this one is easy to read from across the room (with brightness controls), or right on my phone. Also very convenient to be able to adjust the temp from anywhere and set a reminder to change the furnace filter. Excellent installation instructions! Overall….very happy and would recommend.

Easy to install and easy to use App. Was a little harder to figure out Humidifier set up on the menu under “Advanced” but looked at directions again and figured it out.Works fine. Easy to adjust from screen and App. Didn’t realize that it came with geofencing to drop or raise temperature (+/- 3) automatically once you’re greater than 3 miles away from home.
