Pretty strong especially for plastic.
It’s plastic and very sturdy, but plastic, OK. It will slowly start to warp if you overload it. That is understood. Otherwise, great purchase. I bought 3 of them for my 4×4 storage unit to allow me to cram more stuff in there. It definitely works for smaller items and I have two of these shelves next to each other and that allows more room for storage of longer things, but not necessarily bigger things. It is however very sturdy and able to hold the things I have. I am not storing transmissions, just guitars and camping gear. Peace out.

Much Better Than I Expected
These are not heavy duty shelves and they aren’t designed to be. I needed to organize a closet and these shelves did the job perfectly. I don’t have heavy items to store on them, so there’s no danger of them breaking because of this. They are extremely easy to put together and very light to move around. They do the job for a good price. I liked them so much, I got a second set. If my closet was bigger, I’d get a third. For basic storage needs, these do the job. They aren’t huge, nor cumbersome. For basic organization, they do what they’re designed for. One other nice feature is the ability to interlock additional shelves, if need be. Since I have two, I could join them to create one long series of shelves. They are easy to put together and take apart. Definitely worth getting.

I was worried about getting this because of the negative reviews. I didn’t expect a super heavy shelf. It’s plastic and sturdy enough for my needs. It took me two minutes to put together. Nothing was broken. There is a little curve in the front, so I made sure all the shelves had that in the front when I put together so it looked the same. I put the 4 poles in the holes of bottom, put the shelf on top, and then just leaned over the shelf. The shelf pushed down and you can feel the poles clicking and pushing through all the way. I did the same with the next level. I didn’t need a mallet at all. Just use your body weight to push down on the shelf so poles go all the way in. I am not putting a lot of heavy things on. It’s just used for extra storage. Just know it’s not super heavy or sturdy. It’s just plastic shelves for simple storage. Can’t complain for only $27. I like it….simple and narrow for my needs.

I gave a 5 start because it is a great price and purchase, the only issue i have ssen is if you put something really heavy in the center of the shelves it can start to fold the shelf. I put a few car batteries on a shelf and it is folding a bit, but all in all these shelve are great for storage for the price.
