Great purchase, hope it lasts
Have had mine installed for a while week now. Got the 12K unit, room is about 410 sqft.Pros:- Gets very cold, very quickly- Very quiet compared to our portable AC and our other traditional window units- As long as you take your time, the instructions and video are extremely helpful.Cons:- Weird smell the first 2 days, seems to have dissipated after that- The remote is absolutely garbage. Throw it in a drawer and use your phone.Due to the legs not being long enough (I have a shallowish window), I had to take a 3/4in board and put it between the feet and siding. I then screwed it into my siding, siliconed the screw heads, and put a bead along the top, sides, and bottom of the board to avoid moistures accumulation.I’m very pleased with this so far and will update if I have any issues, but so far it’s. Been a godsend.

It delivers on noise and installation isn’t as hard as I feared
So, I hate summer. Some people get SAD in winter, I get it in summer. I just hate being hot. But I also hate how loud my 12,000 BTU unit was. I had to choose between watching a movie or having it on. No fun. I bought this after reading a review in the newspaper. I then researched other of these new saddle-style units plus some traditional units that are supposed to be quiet. I settled on this one mainly because I could get 12,000 BTUs and the others tapped out at 8100.Set up is about as difficult as putting together IKEA furniture. I did it in about 20 minutes. The process is pretty logical. I do recommend watching the video provided by the company and maybe googling some other install videos by other users. I watched a couple before beginning and I think that helped. I do recommend that you own a level for this project. The instructions say you should and I agree that it really isn’t optional for this project.I was able to install it on my own, and I am a weakling, so single people can do this. However, I probably would have preferred to have a helper just to lift the unit into the window.It is quiet. I am so happy with the noise level. I tried watching a nature documentary on a lowish volume and could still hear David Attenborough’s sublime narration. This is the feature I was most interested in and it delivers. It is also more attractive than your standard window a/c, which is a bonus.The company waxes poetic about being able to open the window with the unit in. I have to say that while that is doable, it probably isn’t as practical as they make it out to be, namely because the screen (at least on my window) has to be up so opening the window would let in bugs. It is lower profile and narrower than my other unit, so I do get more window and light, which is nice.My only worry is the reviews on here that discuss condensation pooling and causing mold. I have only had this a day, so I will update this after using it a bit. Reading through reviews and talking with my spouse, any A/C can suffer from that problem, so it might not be a midea problem, but time will tell. As far as noise and efficiency, I am very, very happy. Hopefully this coming summer will be less depressing. I will still try to find a job in Maine. Or Alaska. Or maybe Norway. I am not built for swampy summers.Edit after using this all last summer: I still love it and bought a second unit. I will note that the second unit arrived and stopped working soon after — something probably got cracked in transport so I don’t think it was Midea’s fault. I put in a claim and got refunded the cost, which I appreciated it. I replaced that second unit and now have two of these beauties in my apartment. I did not have the condensation problem people mention in other reviews. I am no expert, but I think that issue might be due to installing it in such a way as the unit can’t drain properly. I was very careful to get the angle just right and used a level (you really do need to own a proper level for installation — buy one with your order if you don’t already have one).But after a summer of running this living in a hot and humid location, this was worth every penny. It cools very well and efficiently. It almost feels like I have central a/c. It is also very quiet. Even on high, I can hear myself think. I recommend this A/C to everyone I can.

Buy it. Let me just start with that. If you’re thinking about buying this unit, stop thinking and click that “Add to cart” button now. I hesitated and waffled before I bought it, then I stalled on installing it because I thought it would be hard.This unit is easy to install. I’m almost 50 years old, out of shape, and never installed a window unit before. I had it installed and operating in about an hour. The instructions are OK, the installation video (links provided in installation instructions) is better. The installation video isn’t *quite* accurate – some discrepancies regarding screws that come installed or not. Watch the video all the way through at least once BEFORE you get started. Also the video described measuring “to the hinge” for cutting the foam on either side. This is not correct. You don’t measure to the hinge; you measure to the point where the foam will insert on the rocker arms (if you measure to the hinge, subtract half an inch).This window air conditioner works with the remote just fine. The remote is intuitive enough. But the thing I love is the app. I have the app installed on my iPhone and I’ll probably never use the remote again. The app provides precise control over fan speed, allows setting up a schedule, and is very responsive. I love that I can turn on the air conditioner before I head upstairs to work or turn it off while I’m away from the house.This unit COOLS and is QUIET! I have had this air conditioner running at full speed in my office while I was on conference calls. It’s not *whisper* quiet, but it’s quieter than some fans I’ve owned. And the noise it does generate is mostly lower frequency so it doesn’t interfere with conversation.With an outside temperature of 92 degrees Fahrenheit, the upstairs of my house will be 80 degrees when the air conditioner is off for that floor. Turning on the Midea and setting the fan at 80%, it will cool my 12 x 15 office down to 72 degrees Fahrenheit in about 10 minutes. And if I leave the office doors open, it will provide cooling for the other rooms upstairs (another similarly sized office, a bathroom, and a hallway down to 75 degrees with no trouble. That’s close to 1000 square feet that it’s cooling of by more than 5 degrees Fahrenheit, and I could do more with a fan to circulate the air across the floor if it were necessary.And it pulls less electricity than a hair dryer! My old portable air conditioners (I have had two) would trigger the uninterruptible power supply on my computer and shake the house when the compressor kicked on. This Midea air conditioner appears to ramp on. You can still hear the compressor start, but it’s subtle and is not a drain on the house when it does. And they didn’t cool anywhere near as well as this Midea air conditioner!I love this air conditioner. I cannot say enough good things about it. It has great cooling capacity. It’s quiet. It’s even quiet outside. I thought the advantage of this design was closing the window provided additional shielding for the noise. But if you’re standing next to this air conditioner outside, it just is not loud at all!If you’re on the fence regarding whether to buy a larger capacity unit or not, I would say the smaller Midea air conditioners are more powerful than their rated cooling capacity (square footage). If this unit can cool my whole office in 10 minutes, I obviously could have purchased the smallest unit and been just find. Your needs will vary, but this is NOT a unit where you have to be concerned that the air conditioner is “too big” for your space because the only downside is you spend a little bit more money than you really need to.I’ll close by saying the same thing I said in the beginning. Buy it. Just buy it. You’ll be glad you did.

Takes a little more time to install then a regular one but well worth it. 15 Seer Energy Efficient. Less noise with compressor on the other side of the Window. Treat yourself for Sure.

We have installed the unit according to the manual. Nothing complicated about the setup, just takes some time. The original support brackets did not fit our window. Purchased a different support brackets from Amazon. The surprise was at the time of starting the unit. Only warm air! Should have tested the unit before installation. Noise level is good, as the compressor is outside the window. This type of A/C is never pretty from the outside. Unit has a remote control and able to connect to smart phone. This is all good and forward thinking if the basic function of cooling works.

I am thrilled with this purchase! I bought the 12000btu unit. You may think this unit is pricey, but its worth every penny. It comes with a safety bracket, so no messing around with blocks of wood or purchasing one separately. Now, the good stuff. Its VERY, VERY quiet. I can barely hear it running on full power. It takes out the humidity and cools my 1200sqft area perfectly. On a cool day, I can open my window and let the breeze in. It is also compact. If you compare dimensions of other units with the same BTU…this one definitely takes up much less window room. The only reason I didn’t give this unit a 5/5 is It took more time to set up than the video suggests…but there are lots a safety features…so well worth it. Cheers to the future of air Conditioners!! Works good. Installing wasn’t very hard. I could not setup the wifi using my Pixel phone it keep getting an error when it was trying to connect it. I had to use a samsung phone to get it to work also there was no app in the store on my tablet. Depending on you device it might have issues with the setup. Once connected worked great and google home could control it wonderfully.
