It was so impressive that I purchased three more. Shockingly good fingerprint accessible doorknob.
I’ve owned my fair share of biometric (fingerprint reader) locks over the years with each model falling well short of expectations. Apparently someone has figured out how to do it properly and at a bargain.Pros:1. Very simple installation2. Rechargeable via USB-C port (states a single charge will last up to 12 months)3. A set of (very nice) physical keys if all else fails4. The supporting application is very full-featured and easy to use5. Supports Geofencing6. Can be set to either Normally Unlocked or Normally Locked. The Normally Locked state automatically locks the doorknob within seconds of unlocking electronically and keeps it locked. Note: In that state, only the Homeowner user account can unlock it by fingerprint. All other users will need to use the application or key.7. Has a heavy-duty feel to it.Gripes:1. The method for adding additional users is unnecessarily convoluted, especially when compared to well-known digital deadbolt locks on the market.2. The manual mistakenly states that in the Normally Locked mode only “Administrators” may unlock the doorknob with a fingerprint, when in fact only the Homeowner account may do so. I setup my wife as an administrator, twice, and though she can unlock the door with her fingerprint otherwise, she cannot do so when it is set to Normally Locked.3. Only seems to be available in black.4. I cannot find a way to lock the knob, other than the app, when it is in Normally Unlocked mode. It would be nice to have a double-tap feature to lock the knob in that mode.Summary: The first one was free to review but I bought three more afterward. What else could I possibly say?Would I recommend this item to a friend? YesWould I buy it as a gift for someone else? YesHad I purchased this outright, would I have returned it? No!Personal Vine Disclosure: I only review items I would or have actually purchased and used. In some cases similar items from different companies are reviewed for comparison. The feedback (review) is honest, matter-of-fact, fair, sometimes with a hint of whimsy, and always with a critical eye.

Good quality and value.
When it arrived, I checked it out and could tell it was a nice high-quality door knob due to its heavy-duty weight and manufacturing detail.I installed it and set it up with no issues. It was rather easy in fact. It looks nice when installed as well, which is a secondary plus.It works well, but if you have dirty or wet hands, it sometimes takes a couple of tries for it to recognize your fingerprint. I also noticed that the orientation of how and where you put your fingerprint makes a difference. Pretty much however you program your finger angle is how you should try to unlock it.Overall, this is a nice fingerprint locking door now and should work well for many applications. Given its quality and price point, it is good value, in my opinion.

Backup mechanical lock. Remote app and biometric unlock. Works with Smart Life.
This is my second smart knob. I got it for my office to keep the door locked, so kids will not be able to sneak in at night and reset WiFi router to wipe out parental controls. Before I had an old school key lock knob. But it is very inconvenient to unlock it if you have a cup of coffee in your hand. This one is really one hand operation, as I set it up to read my thumb. While it connects to your phone over Bluetooth it will associate with Bluetooth gateway if you have one already connected to Smart Life. The one it offered me to associate it with was ZigBee / Bluetooth gateway. It is not specific to Bluetooth locks and I got it with water leak sensors. If the lock is associated with a WiFi Bluetooth gateway then you can unlock it remotely from anywhere in the world (provided you have Internet connection). Smart knob has a USB-C port for charging and a side pin mortise cylinder which unlocks the knob if no other method works. I paired the lock with Smart Life app with no issues and added my fingerprint. You can have multiple fingerprints / roles stored in the app. You can also set up Smart Life smart scenes to unlock this lock based on a proximity to a specific phone or lock it on departure or raise an alarm if the lock is opened.

It’s okay but be careful taking it apart!
I got this to use on my back door as an added security measure in case I can’t get into the front… Below are my thoughts.Firstly, I am ashamed at how long it took me to figure out that the inside knob comes completely off to screw it together. Read the directions, am I right? Once I figured that out, installation was just like any other doorknob. The piece needed to take the knob off is special so it needs to be kept somewhere it won’t get lost or you will not be able (or it at best it will be INCREDIBLY difficult) to change out the knob in the future. the keys are the same – make sure to keep one somewhere it won’t get lost in case the battery dies or bluetooth stops working for any reason. It seems about as responsive as I would expect from an “off brand” that’s not one of the major players in this space. The app works well if it has trouble reading the fingerprint. It did throw me off that when the door is locked via app/print, the lock mechanism on the back does not move… I have a smart deadbolt on my front door and when it locks/unlocks, the physical dial that you would turn to manually lock the door also moves with the action. I thought it was faulty because of this; however when I went to turn the doorknob, it was indeed locked! My issue with this doorknob is that once I got the inside knob off to screw it to the door, when I clicked it back on it never “locked” back into place. Now, if the door is closed and I turn the knob to open the door, many times the pulling on the door pulls the knob right off. This is very frustrating and I’ve tried all I know to do to try and get it to stay on to no avail, so be cautious taking it apart to get the screws in the door, maybe I did something wrong and bent something so the spring broke or something, no idea.If you’re looking for a fingerprint lock, there are MANY on the market, there’s nothing making me want to go out of my way to recommend this particular one, though it does work mostly as expected.
