Customers say
Customers find the door and window sensor easy to set up and appreciate its quick response time. However, the functionality receives mixed feedback – while it works well with Ecobee smart thermostats, it requires a paid subscription for full functionality, making it expensive. Moreover, the motion detection and temperature sensing features also get mixed reviews, with some customers reporting that the sensors don’t work properly. Additionally, the AC control feature is problematic as it doesn’t turn off the air conditioning, and the alarm functionality is limited.

Perfect Integration for Security and Comfort
These are awesome devices to integrate with your ecobee HVAC thermostat system. Can use to pause/adjust your HVAC or just for security/monitoring purposes or the build automations. Either way these are simple and awesome with great battery life

Easy Peezy set up
Just installed a set on my garage roll up door. Do to garage door and frame height differences, l had make a small bracket to align the Ecobee switches. These new smart sensors are not having any problems with the 80’ distance to my garage door. Playing with the app interface and so far I’m liking everything.

Not worth it – Ecobee should stick to thermostats
I only wanted this product for the thermostat. I already have a security system.Unfortunately, you have to pay $5/mo. to use this with the thermostat. It will tell me there is a door open, but won’t pause the HVAC. It doesn’t track that this is a ‘security system’ that is worth paying a monthly fee. Installing these also triggered a trial of the security plan, which took up the top half of the screen on the app and moved my thermostat controls to the bottom half of the app.Overall, this product was a bad experience. I wish I could return it, because I could have my actual security system (Eufy is great!) tell me if a window is open (and with cheaper sensors and no monthly fee). All I wanted was a more efficient HVAC, and Ecobee failed miserably, which is sad because I love the thermostat. Hopefully they don’t decide to start charging a monthly fee for that.

Excellent Product
Product works as designed and helps save energy bill costs when the door is left open bringing in groceries and works with the Ecobee Premium thermostat to turn off units. It has a toggle feature that notifies me about the door opening/closing and that is nice to have when you have kids. Excellent addition to smart home.

Really nice well built sensors
The sensors themselves are very well built and are very easy to setup. They also seemed a bit overpriced for what you get perhaps 20 to 25 dollars per sensor would be more appropriate than 40 dollars per sensor. Also it seems to require a Ecobee Haven subscription to make any use of them and for me not having an Ecobee camera it just doesn’t make sense. I am currently using Ring Cameras and already have a subscription for that so I don’t really need another subscription just to receive notifications from these sensors. Also they sensors don’t seem to support IFTTT.What would make these sensors a whole lot useful is if Ecobee enabled their use without a Haven subscription or lowered the cost of the subscription for people not using the cameras. Also it would be really nice if they enabled IFTTT support with them, in my opinion that would make them a whole lot more useful.

Ecobee customer service/tech support
Customer support was amazing. I followed the installation guide and still wasn’t getting power to the thermostat. It was incredibly frustrating bc I was sure I did everything correctly. Called customer support and an actual person troubleshot the issue very quickly (blown out fuse on the furnace).Everything works as expected now and it pairs well with the doorbell cam. It’s only the first day and I’ll probably find things I wish it does better. But at least I know I have real customer support, which means a lot to me.

Amazing quality the you would expect from Ecobee
While the subscription is expensive for the features it gives, the sensors are amazing and worth the price overall. Being able to turn off my heater when a door or window is left open is a great and useful feature. More importantly, the accuracy of the open/close reporting is reassuring and trustworthy. I have sixteen sensors setup in the 2400 sq ft two story house and occasionally get a disconnect alert but not worth making a big deal about. It would be nice if they had a better mesh feature to eliminate this communication issue.

I recently purchased the ecobee SmartSensors after a unfortunate incident where we had some items stolen from our trailer. The decision to invest in these sensors, paired with the premium thermostat, turned out to be a game-changer for our home security. The setup process was surprisingly easy, and the sensors seamlessly connected to the thermostat. What I love most about these sensors is the peace of mind they provide. My husband and I feel much safer both when we’re at home and when we’re away. The ability to monitor and control the temperature and security of our home remotely is a huge relief.Considering the recent security concerns we had, the ecobee SmartSensors have truly been a worthwhile investment. I can confidently say that I love this product, and I will never regret making the decision to enhance our home security with ecobee. If you’re looking for a reliable and user-friendly solution for both climate control and security, look no further. Highly recommended!

Product works as advertised but really doesn’t seem tht useful without the ecobee subscription

I bought 2 boxes of 2 pairs of sensors, (4 total). Despite all my efforts and countless hours spent trying to get support only 1 pair works at all. I’ve changed batteries, reset them multiple times and no joy.Unreliable and unhelpful. Thermostat is great, these are best avoided. Waste of money

As a long time ecobee thermostat user, I was intrigued to explore their venture into home monitoring. The 2-pack door and window sensors were easy and intuitive to install. Unlike other similar sensors that I’ve had over the years, the magnetic sensor has extremely long range making it easy to install on doors or windows with large gaps between the frame and the door. A combination of the mobile app instructions and a blinking LED on the sensor helped get the position perfect. My thermostat is pretty far from the doorways in my home, so I was worried the wireless range wouldn’t be long enough for the sensor to reach – but it turned out to be just fine! I’ve started the free trial for home monitoring and so far so good. My existing SmartSensors and the new door and window contact are all working seamlessly together! I like that the home monitoring does not require a hub to arm and disarm the alarm system – somehow, it just seems to know when I’m home and when I’m away. I’ve configured it to receive notifications to my cell phone whenever motion is detected in my home or when a door opens or closes. The system works flawlessly! I’m keen to add their camera sometime in the future.
