Modern & Sleek Doorbell
My first thoughts upon opening the ecobee smart doorbell is that this is very sleek and modern. It was an easy install into our home. I love how the style fits our home’s aesthetic without being too bulky. The quality is top tier as the night vision allows me to see anyone who comes to the door and so clear in the daytime as well. I would highly recommend this doorbell as compared to some others this one has the best video and responsiveness when it comes to a visitor.

Ecobee Smart Doorbell Review (4.5/5 ⭐️)
First Impressions: It’s everything you need with included extras (angled backplate, tools) made installation easier.Installation: Guided app setup was seamless; took ~1 hour including wiring troubleshooting.Design: Modern but blends well with older homes. Missing a vinyl siding mount, which would improve aesthetics.Video Quality: Clear day & night, wide-angle lens prioritizes field of view over straight-on sharpness.Audio Quality: Crisp with ~1 sec delay; impressive range (picked up sounds from 300 ft).Motion Detection: No false alerts from birds/bugs; worked well even at max range (~20 ft).Alerts: Slight delay (~4-5 sec), could be faster.App & Smart Features: User-friendly, but lacks custom notification sounds for different alerts.Final Thoughts: Sleek design, reliable performance, solid smart home integration. Pricey but worth it for Ecobee users. Would love a vinyl mount & faster notifications.

Video doorbells have come a long way!
I’ve been using the ecobee Smart Video Doorbell for a bit now, and it’s been great. The video quality is super clear (1080p HDR), which is really helpful to make out details. T wide field of view makes it easy to see everything—whether it’s a visitor or a package on the ground. The motion detection is solid, and notifications come through fast. It also works well with Apple and Alexa, which is a nice bonus. Installation was pretty straightforward, but just a heads-up—it needs wired power (16-24 VAC). Overall, very happy with the purchase. I didn’t realize how useful having a doorbell camera would be!

Easy setup, quality product overall, slight software improvements needed
I’m coming from having a ring doorbell (2 of them) and I really enjoyed the ring camera. I purchased the Ecobee doorbell because it integrates with Apple HomeKit and honestly I just wanted to try something new. The installation was awesome, so easy. The App walks you through the entire installation and I was super impressed. Best of all, it comes with a doorbell chime adapter, unlike the Ring (at least when I bought my Ring doorbell). The entire process took 45 min. Keep in mind you’ll likely need a power drill (to drill very small holes in wood), drill bit, and screwdriver. If you have masonry or other material you’ll need different tools, but this is a 101 level project and I’m confident anyone can complete with the solid instructions from the app, which is step-by-step. The quality of the product itself is great, and feels premium. Yes, it’s bigger than my Ring Pro but barely. The doorbell button is obvious and perfectly placed. The camera quality is great and the HomeKit integration is awesome and fast. I have an embarrassing amount of items in HomeKit and this was super simple to add. The camera loads fast and is high quality. My reasoning for 4 stars is with the software and motion/activity notifications. It’s frustratingly difficult to receive simple notifications when someone walks in front of the camera. I am no Einstein, but I shouldn’t have to search google to figure this step out. So far, I’ve been unable to figure this out to my satisfaction and this is done so well on Ring that this seems like a huge miss by Ecobee. It should be as simple as one button to turn these notifications on, no disarming or unarming. They get really close here but seems like they overthought this OR (more likely) I’m just missing the obvious. If their programmers are listening, you have a real winner on your hands if you just make motion alerts simpler and more obvious, none of this disarm/arm/Smart Security/confusing stuff. I will gladly give this 5 stars if either I can figure this out or they upstate the software.UPDATE: I figured out the notifications eventually but they were inconsistent and not reliable. I went back to my Ring Doorbell Pro 2 and it’s much better. This is all my opinion and I think in time the Ecobee will be great.

Worked for 6 months, then quit.
Bottom line up front, the unit works great, but is hampered by the companies need to try to cash grab with their subscription to their “security”, as well as potential quality control issues and longevity issues. The fact that this doesn’t integrate with HomeKit secure video is an automatic 2 star max.Installed Christmas Day and the doorbell worked great for almost 6 months. Aside from the lack of HomeKit Secure Video functionality the doorbell worked great, until it didn’t. One day, I noticed I couldn’t connect to it through the app. So when I got home I took a look and it had a blue ring circling the doorbell. Followed the support steps to reset it and the reset button doesn’t do anything, at all. So I removed power and rebooted the doorbell. Same issue. So I contact support, which is complicated by being outsourced and language barriers, even through the chat. They ask me to bypass the chime adapter, verify the wiring, and transformer voltage. After that’s complete it’s after support hours so I have to contact them again during normal hours. The next support person has me repeat a lot of the same steps, requests more pictures of the equipment and wiring, as well as the transformer. Finally, after 3 days of contacting support, and 3 different support people they decide I need a replacement. To me, if a major part of the unit, the reset button, is non functional, that would indicate that something is wrong with the unit. We’ll see how the replacement does when it gets here.

Great quality, easy setup, and works perfectly with my iPhone
The doorbell arrived yesterday and I had it installed in about 20 minutes—super straightforward with the mobile guide. The video quality is excellent, and I love how easy it is to use the app on my iPhone. I can clearly see who’s at my door and even talk to them in real time. Definitely impressed so far!

I’ve had the doorbell camera for almost two months. The camera functions well, the image quality is nice, and install was a breeze. I also live in northern Alberta, and it functioned without issue during an entire week below -30 degrees celsius. The subscription to have your videos saved on the cloud isn’t overly pricey and reasonable. Having to pay a subscription is really the only drawback so far.I like that it integrates with my ecobee smart thermostat, but the functionality is limited since the image only appears on the thermostat screen when someone presses the doorbell button. I wish it would appear on tbe thermostat whenever motion is detected. I’m also pleased that this doorbell camera works with my house’s old 16v 10va transformer, and that I didn’t need to install a new one. Most new smart cameras require a higher voltage transformer with greater amperage output. I believe the ecobee doesn’t require as much power due to the chime adapter having it’s own battery. This would reduce the total on system when the mechanical chime is activated. But that’s just my personal speculation. There was an issue with the zoom/pan feature, but support was quick to get back to me via email, and they assured me the issue would be resolved with the next patch/update. This proved to be true, and the issue is resolved.Overall I’m very pleased with this purchase so far. And having full control of my home’s thermostat and camera on the same app is a pleasant experience. I’d recommend this product to anyone okay with paying for a subscription.

As someone who’s been trying to create a more connected and secure smart home, I was excited to try out the Ecobee Doorbell. After installing it, I have to say—it’s a game changer!I love that I can see and control everything right there on my phone within the app.The design is sleek and modern, fitting perfectly with my front door. Setup was easy, though you’ll need some basic wiring skills for the wired version. The 1080p video quality is crisp, clear, and even great at night with its infrared night vision. I also love the two-way audio, which allows me to speak with visitors from anywhere. I get instant notifications on my phone, so I never miss anything happening at my front door!Overall, the Ecobee Doorbell is a great choice if you’re looking for a high-quality, easy-to-use smart doorbell with great video and audio performance.

This is my first time trying out a video doorbell so I was nervous it would be difficult to figure out the wiring. To my surprise, the installation flow was fast and easy thanks to helpful mobile install guide in the app. I was really happy that my old mechanical chime in the house actually works with the ecobee doorbell camera after I installed the small chime adapter that was included in the box – call me old school, but I love the sound of my old chime. The videos load quickly on my mobile phone and the wide field of view really captures the view of my porch well. As my front door is quite close to the sidewalk, I was worried it would pickup the motion from all the passersby but ecobee thought of that and included a detection range adjustment in the app – so I was able to adjust the range so that motion and person detection only captures people on my porch and ignores the people on the sidewalk. The best part of all is the integration with the thermostat. I didn’t think I would care for this feature as much as I do! Whenever someone rings the doorbell, I can glance at the thermostat in my living room to see who is outside. An excellent product overall. My only wish is that they make a camera floodlight too!

Had a blink doorbell that was easy to install and worked reliably but took a long time to connect to the app to see video. Got an ecobee thermostat and thought it would be good to have a matching doorbell with quick connect video. It was painful to install, and needed a new doorbell transformer which I purchased and installed. Finally got it working but it is slow to notify my phone of a doorbell press, the video is choppy and delayed, and the audio is unintelligible. Then it goes offline. My wifi is strong and the blink camera never had wifi issues. This doorbell will likely be returned. Shame.

My wife wanted a doorbell camera but two things stood in my way. 1. I did not have an existing doorbell, 2. I live in Winnipeg where -25C will eat wireless doorbell camera batteries lime they are M&Ms, and 3. I didn’t know where to start. So first I installed a basic doorbell. Relatively easy if you are at all handy. Took about an hour. After that installing the ecobee was really easy. Like 20 minutes easy. I already had an ecobee thermostat so I had the app, but that would have been a trivial step if I needed to do that too. The door bell works great. I can pick up packages left on my porch, and I have not even gotten to some of the features that the doorbell camera offers. Would highly recommend.
