The best 8” tablet that doesn’t come from that other $$$ company that starts with an “A”
I spent the past year designing a mounting device that allows small screen tablets and my own 9” IPS screen for PCs called the ‘Gaming Lens’, but sadly at the start of this quest there was only one tablet that had enough BEEF to handle game streaming and AAA converted titles like “Alien Isolation” and that was from Apple with their iPad Mini 6th generation which will set you back $500 (lowest tier model) push you into their ecosystem, and frankly a 4:3 ratio screen that waste a lot of screen real estate for most 16:9 formatted games. There are a few 8” tablets from Samsung & Lenovo, but they have limited RAM & storage, are slow and on the cheap side as well as only having a 1280×800 screen. Lenovo also makes a 8.8” tablet called the Legion but it was never brought to the US market and it too costs about the $500.Then out of nowhere Alldocube releases not one, but two 8” 1920×1200 IPS screen based tablets. One you can buy for about $80 (with coupon) and this one that you can buy for $160 (with coupon) here on Amazon, and have it next day. The former has 1/2 the memory, and 1/4 the storage of the latter, which is of a slower variant, and much slower processor, but it does share WiFi 5, BT 5 & even 4G LTE (with additional SIM & service) making it an excellent tablet for media/game streaming, and with its 4GB or RAM it can even run ‘Alien Isolation’ but is a little laggy and stutters on occasion (See my review on Amazon). This tablet has 8GB of RAM, a much faster 256GB storage option, and most important — it uses the MediaTek Helio G99, which clocks in 2-4 times faster in CPU/GPU tests than their lower cost model. Making, ‘Alien Isolation’, Half-Life 2, Doom 3 and even the more recent Fortnite run without problems at mostly “high” settings. Since it actually uses a Google certified copy of Android, I had no problem installing anything there, as well as side loading Fortnite, Alien Isolation, Half-Life 2, Portal and the app that allows you to run the PC version of Doom 3, as well many MODs. As mentioned already it has WIFI 5, BT 5, and a 4G/LTE modem. I popped in my Google Fi DATA SIM, which to my surprise even works pretty well for Game streaming using the XBOX Game Pass, and to lesser quality experience NVIDIA NOW. WiFi 5 is more than adequate to run these services as well, but I would have paid few dollars more to have WiFi 6 to cover all my bases. Still, Wifi 5 on this tablet is no slouch and was never the problem in using cloud gaming services, or local services from NVIDIA, AMD, Steam, or the public domain streaming server — Sunshine using Moonlight or Steam Link.Another important aspect for me was weight. Coming in at 305g, just a 7g less than the lower cost model and 5g less than the iPad Mini. IT IS PERFECT for my ‘Gaming Lens’ mount, that allows you to “float” it above a Sony DS4, Dualsense or XBOX controller for perfect balance. Since it uses the gamepad you are already familiar with and the fact it can be connected via USB, it makes this ALLDOCUBE tablet a JOY TO USE due to its sharp crisp screen, with it deep blacks & saturated color. Of course at this price you are not getting Variable Refresh Rate, but frankly most Android games can’t even keep up at 60 FPS, which is also your limit with cloud services, and in my opinion a waste on small format device. Speaking of small format devices. By combining my ‘Gaming Lens’, ALLDOCUBE IPlay 50 and a decent PC, you can save yourself few hundred on those far more expensive small format gaming system like the Steamdeck, ASUS ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion Go and other variants from lesser known companies where $700 is the price you are going to pay for one of these for the mid to high tier versions. Just add the MoonLight or Steam Link app, a decent WiFi router/access point with your PC connected to it via a LAN cable and you should see decent if not great performance. You can even connect using the ‘SuperDisplay’ app over USB for “tether” performance, which works quite well using a dual USB cable setup; one for the tablet, and one for the controller. This option works really well for mini PCs like those from MinisForum, that can also be used as tiny screen, push come to shove. In summary, this is almost a perfect 8” tablet: Great price, excellent 1920×1200 screen, loads of RAM & storage, medium/high CPU/Performance (about Snapdragon 640 level), decent WiFi & BT, and BUILT-IN 4G/LTE! Oh and I almost forgot one other feature that sets it apart from its cheaper sibling and other low-cost 8” tablets — FAST CHARGING! Yep 18W PD Fast, and battery life was also better, but I have not actually done any drain tests yet to determine how long it will last on charge, but I’d say running it all day, today with the apps mentioned above for about 6 hours continuous, it still says I have 36% left. The questions will be. How long will it last? Fit & finish decent. Aluminum body and similar look to the iPad mini 6th gen, just a narrower and tad thicker.Oh there is one thing, I wish they could have done and that is add two speakers, but if I had to choose, between this and a few more gs, I can live without it. Especially since you don’t need any special dongles to plug in a standard pair of headphones. Yep, 1/8th mini jack (and why it is a little thicker than the iPad Mini) available and in the right spot when using it landscape, 2 THUMBS Up just for thinking ahead on that little feature.Note: The launcher used is 3rd party and can be purchased for five bucks in the PlayStore. Look for “Console Launcher.” Well worth the $4.99.

Not to big, not too small, this is the one after testing them all
As a frequent traveler, I was looking for something that was light, and have enough storage to carry all my music or download videos to watch during flights without sucking up the memory on my phone. I had iPad mini generation 3 through generation 6, and while they were great, after losing my last one, I decided to try something less expensive, especially since I have numerous apps and needed at least 512G of storage and cellular capabilities. The latest Mini with that configuration is over $1100! I’ve tested all the various Android versions from the super cheap ones from unknown brands, ranging from $75 to $250, ordering from Aliexpress and Temu and here on Amazon. I did a ton of research and a couple things worth noting for those still deciding:* Android 14 or later was key that is an AUTHENTICATED version, mainly because of security concerns* Devices from China have a ton of bloatware and, more importantly, spyware that was built into the system and could not be deleted despite trying uninstaller apps. I found out the hard way after installing my Google accounts, and shortly after, I found out I was getting spam and attempted hacks since my contacts had been downloaded into the device. Luckily, I had 2FA set up for my accounts. I would not install anything sensitive if you bought a device from Aliexpress or Temu with bloatware that can’t be uninstalled; check hidden files in settings.* Battery life has to be at least 5 hours or more; some claim high battery life only to find out that the battery drains much faster than described. I would not get any device with less than 6000mh battery.* I didn’t want to spend more than $250After numerous devices, I got the Teclast M50 Pro mini and thought I had found the right one. It was good, reasonably fast with minimal bloatware, and cheaper than this Alldocube. It was fast, had a good interface, and had better screen resolution than others I had tried. Then, I discovered it was incompatible with T-Mobile, my wireless carrier for the last 20 years, and I wasn’t going to change my family’s wireless plans. So I returned it. After more research, I came across this Alldocube for about $200, which was higher than what I wanted to spend. It’s the one!Why I liked this device:* Good screen resolution* Just the right size and weight, not too heavy for reading (I use the Libby app to check out books from the library)* Battery life is sufficient, and the processor is zippy!* No bloatware, I didn’t find any apps or spyware (I will update if I do)* I bought the 256G internal storage version, and external storage capability said it could accept up to 512G microSD card…I installed a 2Tb card, and it seems to recognize it perfectly fine* Sound quality is what you’d expect from a little device — not so great, but I always use Bluetooth earbuds anyway, so it was not a factor for me.* Camera — didn’t test it, didn’t care. I may use the device for Zoom/Team calls and don’t need anything super high-resolution; my iPhone 16 pro is my portable camera, this device isn’t meant to be a camera replacement. This is it if you want an Android replacement for your iPad mini, but sacrifice on sound quality unless you use headphones or earbuds.

Potente e veloce.Il processore da 2,2 GHz e la RAM da 8 GB si vedono. All’accensione subito disponibile.La risoluzione dello schermo è ottima.La sezione audio si difende alla grande.Da migliorare il riconoscimento facciale per lo sblocco.Unica pecca, peccato non ci sia un sensore di impronte che potrebbe aiutare il riconoscimento facciale.

The ALLDOCUBE iPlay 60 Mini Pro is an excellent tablet for those seeking a lightweight, high-resolution device, particularly for reading. While it has some limitations, its affordability and impressive display make it a standout choice among compact tablets.Key Highlights:1. DisplayAlong with price this was the main reason I bought this tablet. The 1920×1200 resolution on the 8.4-inch screen is sharp and vibrant, making it perfect for reading eBooks, PDFs, web browsing and Youtube. Compared to my Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 (1340×800 resolution), the difference is very clear – the ALLDOCUBE offers a much more satisfying visual experience. Text and images are clearer, and the high pixel density ensures a comfortable and enjoyable reading experience. The screen is not OLED and it’s IPS LCD and the 60Hz refresh rate may be also a slight downside for those used to higher-end tablets, but it’s perfectly clear and acceptable for the price. There’s also screen protector factory installed. Saved me hassle of installing one. But had it for 2 weeks or so and already seeing micro scratches on the screen protector. But can easily install another one if it gets too bad.2. Portability and BuildWeighing just over 300g and featuring a slim design, the tablet is easy to carry and hold for extended periods, making it ideal for reading and on-the-go use. People with larger hands can easily hold with one hand from the back. It’s light because it’s made from light metal at the back and plastic on top and bottom of the tablet, presumably for better signal. It does feel solid enough to take a few knocks. I always put a case on my mobiles and tablets. There are limited selection of cases for this tablet and I’ve bought and reviewed AKNICI Case for ALLDOCUBE iPlay 60 Mini Pro Tablet on here. The USB-C port for charging is at the top of the tablet for some reason but doesn’t cause any issues.3. OS and PerformanceThe Helio G99 processor handles everyday tasks with ease. Since I’m not a gamer, I didn’t need a particularly powerful processor, and this tablet more than meets my needs. The default ALLDOCUBE OS is very close to stock Android but I replaced with Nova Launcher which I was more comfortable with. Also, another thing I found annoying is I’m used to Samsung tablets where the back navigation button is on the right. Default back button is on the left. I could not find a satisfactory way to change this. But I think this is more to do with Android 14 than the tablet itself. It does allow you to change to swipe gestures which I can’t get used to. I still prefer buttons.4. Expandable StorageThe inclusion of Micro SD card support is a great addition to the already generous 128GB, allowing for expanded storage easily and not costing arm and a leg.5. Battery LifeBattery life is OK so far, lasting a full day easily with moderate use, including reading and browsing web and light Youtube. Time will tell as I’ve only had this for 2 weeks or so at the time of writing review.6. 4G LTE CapabilityThe tablet includes 4G LTE sim support, though I haven’t used this feature yet and unlikely to do it. Prefer to use hotspot with my mobile when data is needed. But it’s a great option for those who want mobile connectivity on the go without a mobile.Value for MoneyI purchased this tablet during the recent Black Friday sales, which made it an even better deal. The quality and performance at this price point are exceptional, especially for those prioritising reading and casual use.Alternatives Considered:I did alot of research before buying this. My criteria was a low cost high resolution 8 inch tablet. Most of the 8 inch ones had low resolution like my Samung Tab A9 at 1340×800 resolution. The other higher resolution ones I researched included:• iPad Mini 7 (2266×1488): A great device, but the high price made it out of my budget, and not Android.• Lenovo Legion Tab Y700 (2560×1600): Another great 8-inch Android tablet more for gamers and available to buy internationally but limited by its Chinese ROM, which made it less user-friendly for international users. The UK (Global) version again had a high price and out of my budget. Also too powerful for my needs.• Update 19/02/2025 – DOALLCUDE iPlay 60 Mini Turbo: This Turbo version is very similar to the Pro version but with new processor bump and video output feature via USB-C. There maybe more features but I saw this on Amazon UK for about £180 which is more than the Pro version. For my needs I’ll still stick with the Pro version.Room for Improvement:• Refresh Rate: The 60Hz refresh rate is acceptable for this price range but doesn’t match higher-end tablets.• ALLDOCUBE OS: The default OS is OK but can be easily switched to other launchers like Nova Launcher to enhance usability.• Speakers and Cameras: Speakers are average quality, which is fine for Youtube and videos. I don’t use this tablet for music, and also don’t intend to use the camera. Conclusion:The ALLDOCUBE iPlay 60 Mini Pro is a fantastic tablet. Its sharp, high-resolution display offers a significant improvement over devices like the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9, delivering a much more satisfying visual experience. The inclusion of Micro SD card support further enhances its versatility.Despite minor trade-offs like the 60Hz refresh rate and average speakers, the tablet’s affordability, portability, and high-resolution display make it an excellent choice. I would easily recommend this tablet to anyone looking for a compact, affordable device for reading and everyday tasks.Time will tell if this tablet is reliable but for now it’s a gem of a tablet.
