1 What type of WiFi does the detector work with?—A—:The detector’s gateway is compatible with 2.4GHz WiFi networks only and does not support 5GHz. Please use the “Tuya Smart” app for setup and connection. 2 Does the hub always need to be plugged in to operate? If not, how long can the battery keep it running before it shuts down? —A—:Yes, the hub must be plugged in to function continuously. It has a built – in battery backup that can maintain its operation for around 10 hours during a power outage. 3 What is the volume of the water alarm, and is it adjustable?—A—: Yes. The water leak detector features a 120dB alarm with 4 volume levels available. Additionally, the gateway emits an alarm with a volume ranging from 0 to 90dB. You can silence the alarm either by pressing the sensor button or through the app. 4 Can I set up a schedule for arming and disarming? —A—:Absolutely! You can set up arming and disarming schedules through the app. Tailor the settings to suit your preferences, like disarming during nighttime or on rainy days. 5 If I’m driving or out and about, and my phone is only using cellular data, won’t I receive an alert?—A—You can receive real – time alerts from the app anywhere, as long as your phone is connected to a cellular network or any other Wi – Fi network. 6 May I share the device among my family members?—A—:Yes, you can easily share access to the device through the app, allowing your family members to monitor the system and receive alerts as well. 7 What happens if the detector finds a leak?—A—:Upon detecting a leak, the detector sends an alert to the gateway, which then notifies you via your phone. Can the water sensor operate independently?—A—: The leak detector will notify you with a low battery alert. It operates on 2x AAA batteries, which are provided with the device. Each water sensor is equipped with its own speaker and batteries, allowing it to sound an alarm independently, even without a Wi-Fi connection. 10 How can I distinguish each water sensor in the app?—A—:Each water sensor is pre-assigned a serial number (01, 02, 03, 04, 05). 5 for now, but I just received the device, so I won’t be able to report on longevity. Perhaps I could follow up in a year or so. The device arrived quickly with no issues. It has a main base station that can be plugged in for assurance of power. It can run on its own when charged as well, but I have no experience for how long it can hold a charge.I ordered the device with 5 leak sensors running on 2 AAA batteries that were included and came with a full charge. These sensors came already paired with the base station which made setup much easier. I just had to download the Tuya App to my phone and then plug the base station in, turn it on, then search for my WiFi and enter the password when prompted. That all worked flawlessly. Then, after loading each sensor with its batteries, I tested each one with the base station armed. The base station sounds loudly and each sensor when tested has a high pitched sound for 1-2 seconds when tested. If the sensor doesn’t stop on its own, press the test button again to turn it off.I placed my sensors in the drip pans for water heaters and AC pans to give me a head’s up on these devices which largely sit in attic spaces in Texas. I also placed one behind the toilet for early leak detection here. You could place them near a washing machine or dishwasher as well. Just place them where your concerns are greatest. These sensors are nice in that they can detect a drip coming from above the device (top of the sensor) and they have metal feet that detects water puddling underneath the sensor.The Tuya App allows you to arm and disarm the base station. It records the history of each sensor and when it sounded. Each sensor can be renamed in the App, so you will see exactly which sensor sounds when you get notified on your App of a triggered sensor.The only variable for each house is where is your WiFi base station? The base station for this leak detector system must be able to get a good signal from the WiFi in order to detect the sensors and send that message to your phone through the App. This might require a bit of trial and error on your part to optimize the location of the base station and its proximity to your sensors. Be sure to test each sensor with the base station armed to both hear it sound the alarm and for it to send that message to your phone. I actually had no issues with where I placed the sensors relative to the base station. It read the sensors in my attic as well as the sensors in the downstairs bathroom.This system was fairly easy to setup (came with a simple instruction booklet), it operated exactly as advertised and so far I am pleased with its functionality. Only time will tell on how well the system works over time. For now, I feel like we have an early warning system in place that will let us know of a problem when we are at home or traveling.

This is very smart gadget. It is very affordable and easy to install. Complete accessories including batteries, so no wire installation needed. It has wifi alarm system in the app and includes a loud alarm on the gadget. The design is cute and compact, easy to place. Tested and it alarms when there is leak, so smart. Highly recommended

Manual is terrible for understanding water sensor pairing
Product seems to be quite promising: good range and customization features. ButtttttThe manual is terrible. What you have to realize is that the sensors come pre-paired to the WiFi hub. 5 sensors that you get at through the accessories tab once you’ve connected the hub to your internet using their app. Then you need to “test” each one to determine if it’s #1, 2, 3, 4 or 5. Then label them for use. Then you’re golden.

High Quality Wi-Fi Leak Detectors
I purchased these because 2 weeks ago my water heater in my basement decided to leak and flood my basement. After the clean up, I decided to take some preventative measures to never have a repeat of that disaster. These are really well built leak detectors and the best part is no subscription fee! I hate subscriptions. I have some other leak detectors that aren’t Wi-Fi that work well but the Wi-Fi feature really adds extra peace of mind when I’m not home. You get 5 in the pack which was great for covering the high risk areas in my house and they are so easy to setup. The app walks you through making an account and sets them up automatically without any fuss. I was surprised to learn the base station all acts as an alert station. So I can put the sensors in my basement and the base station upstairs. Even if you don’t hear the individual device (which would be hard because they are extremely loud!) you would hear the gentle door bell sound of the base station. I love when a product just works—this is one of them. They are easy to use and the app is fantastic. They even added a “critical alert” in the iPhone app so that you get the notifications if your phone is on silent/focus mode which I really appreciate. Spend the extra money and get the Wi-Fi version if you want to protect your home from flooding or leaks! My only criticism is my box came with no instructions so I had to lookup the original amazon page to find the name of the app. Once I had that, setup was self explanatory and very simple. I’m sure some people would appreciate paper instructions in the box, but I managed just fine without them though.

I received the water leak detector Friday, April 4th. The manual was easy to understand, and the product appears to be very durable and easy to set up. I found you can either download the Tuva Smart App on your I phone and have the phone monitor the water detectors everywhere you place them, or you can use the water detectors as a stand alone. The decibel level is definitely loud enough to hear from anywhere in the house. These are exactly what I was looking for in a water detection sensor!
